"Six Crimson Cranes," acrylic & colored pencil on paper, 24x12.5", $4200 (for availability, contact mail@mynameistran.com).

📘✨ I'm ecstatic to share the cover for Elizabeth Lim's "Six Crimson Cranes!" I was commissioned by Penguin Random House to create a full jacket cover for her new book. We ran into some complications in the final painting so some traditional and digital revisions were made to make it more fitting for its narrative. The illustration with the blue background is the official cover and the one with pink is the original.

The illustration depicts the story's protagonist, Shiori, who is the only princess of Kiata, and her six brothers who have been turned into cranes by their stepmother. The book is a retelling of the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale “The Wild Swans” and is set in the same universe as "Spin the Dawn." It's filled with dark magic, dragons, and an unspeakable curse. I got to work with AD Alison Impey again and Neil Swaab on this, who were amazing! I'm looking forward to its release!
